Bourbon Lemonade
Insanely refreshing.
This is one of those drinks that even if you don’t like bourbon, you’ll probably like anyway. The bourbon gives it a rich flavour, while the lemon and sugar mellow it out. In the spirit of freshness, I like to garnish it with sprigs of mint and a lemon slice.
2 oz bourbon
3 x 1/8 wedges of lemon
1 oz simple syrup
2 dash angostura bitters
Cut the ends of the lemon, avoiding the flesh. The pith (the white part below the rind) is bitter, so removing the ends will reduce the bitterness from the skin. Cut the lemon into 8 equal parts, add 3 pieces of lemon to your shaker and muddle. Add the bourbon, simple syrup, bitters and shake with ice. Strain into a rocks glass filled with ice. Garnish with a lemon wedge and a bouquet of mint.
