Ella F.

Like a Fitzgerald, but with blueberries.

The Fitzgerald first appeared on a NYC bar menu in 2002. Since Hemingway has his Daiquiri, it only made sense to create a namesake cocktail for American author F. Scott Fitzgerald, too. Rumour has it that he preferred gin since he believed that it didn’t give you a boozy breath, and somehow that was enough for a bartender to name the lemon - gin drink after him.

Well, somehow adding blueberries to this drink was enough for me to call it the Ella Fitzgerald, Ella F. for short. Don’t over think it, I just think it’s a pretty name for a pretty drink.

2 oz gin
1 oz simple syrup
0.75 oz lemon
1 big spoonful of frozen blueberries
2-4 dash angostura bitters

Shake with ice, strain into a double rocks glass filled with ice.
