Paper Plane
A bourbon drink that people who don’t like bourbon still like.
As a bourbon lover, I’m always up for the challenge when someone claims they don’t like it. I usually make them a paper plane, which they usually enjoy and makes them change their minds about what a bourbon drink can be. At that point, they usually ask for a second and to know how I made it: it’s all going according to plan.
0.75 oz bourbon
0.75 oz aperol
0.75 oz amaro
0.75 oz lemon
Shake all the ingredients with ice, pour into a coupe. I sometimes garnish with lemon, but this is optional. I’ve also had this drink shaken and served over ice. I really enjoyed it that way and if you don’t have any coupes, I would recommend serving it like that.
Note: I usually use Buffalo Trace as my bourbon and Averna as my amaro. Other good amaros for this drink include Nonino Quintessentia and Lucano.
